Despite advances in medical sciences, mortality rates associated with severe burns appears to remain high. Burn injury has been noted as a severe form of trauma and results in significant morbidity and mortality. A retrospective review of clients with severe burns indicates that they are subjected to rigorous burns care from the admission period till death. The big question is “to what extent can we go in managing severe burn injured clients even when prognosis is poor”? How about streamlining palliative care alongside so as to ensure that these clients maintain optimum comfort? Definitely further research is needed in this regard but do you consider this a possibility?
